Two military heroes as managers. USMC fighter pilot Ted Williams, veteran of WWII and Korea, and Ralph Houk, Army officer earning the Purple Heart and Silver Star during Battie of the Bulge. This was Ted’s managerial debut and in ‘69 he was honored as the AL Manager of the Year.
