Sad... Also incredible. Cops tell Kennedy it's too dangerous, but he goes. He quotes Aeschylus, talks about his brother's murder for the first time publicly, and then calls for love, not revenge. Crowd leaves in peace To me, no other speech of the last 50 years compares

RFK’s oratory abilities held back a bubbling groundswell of anger that night—just with WORDS, America!! Imagine THAT!pic.twitter.com/F1E1ZwEonT

Robert Kennedy's off the cuff speech to predominantly black crowd in Indianapolis, telling them of
#MLK's assassination considered one of the best political speeches ever. There were riots that night in ghettos all across US. But not in Indianapolis. RFK sent them home peacefullyThanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo

From what I read, Indianapolis was one of the few large cities where rioting was not present, because of RFK's speech to the people of Indianapolis.

I re-read Bobby Kennedy's speech on this history-changing day and it was stunning, considering the need to address the anger & grief in the country. I always loved the song "Abraham, Martin & John", a sad ode to a tragic time. I hope we can turn away the danger facing us now.

I remember my mom and dad crying when this happened. They also attended his home going service.
