I was in two peace marches in the ‘60s. I never hesitate to tell young men that they owe their lives to me and my fellow protesters. We ended the war and, effectively, the draft.

I'd argue the protests definitely ended the draft, but not the war. They also helped elect Nixon in 68. Ending the draft allowed the war to continue until '75.

Not everyone who lost his life in Vietnam died there. Not everyone who came home from Vietnam ever left there.

It took 8 more years and thousands of lives before our government ended US involvement. This will be a long fight to reverse 50 years of hate filled evangelicals in our government. #TheResistance

Moratorium Marches in DC. I worked in the federal govt, and one or wags quipped that we were taking annual leave to smash the state.

Fun fact: Vietnam was a stupid conflict for the US to be involved in, but its quick withdraw resulted in the death of 1.5 to 3 million Cambodians.
