That's not that bad, actually? Maybe the Obama one will grow on us? I'm thinking no...but tastes change?
Obama's portrait is done by a highly esteemed contemporary artist. It might have to "grow" on some, but I think it's great.
Hmm the official looks just that official. Hurd’s was more true to life.
Very Churchill and Henry viii
from what I've read, the one he hated was the true portrait; this one makes him look kind
& it’s dreadful - Peter Hurd’s portrait was far superior
This one is more flattering, I admit. That's the purpose of a portrait, isn't it?
I don't blame him for liking it.
Portrait painters should be seen in the White House but not Hurd
Thats the beneficent spirit I remember of him—-after LBJ’s coming to Jesus humanitarian instinct
They could have painted one of him dangling his dog by it's ears....
Any idea what the rejected portrait looked like?
Funny, but I prefer the first but I bet he thought he looked younger in this one. Is the first one in The Smithsonian?
the full image is remarkable, the figure is more animated. surprised LBJ went with the cloudy sky, which is emotionally rendered. Hurd's effort was stiff and lifeless, though the capitol is awesome
I would choose this portrait, too! : )
Maybe he preferred brown to blue suits.
Minimized the nose, jowls and wrinkles. No wonder he liked this one.
Nice portrait. Looks a bit like an elder @JoeNBC
