But if the Justice Department and FBI are plagued by corruption and political motives, shouldn't it be a priority to weed that out? Which is a greater tragedy - allowing the FBI to stay corrupt, or calling them out?

Plagued by political motives and corruption? 1. Having a political affiliation does not keep one from doing their job impartially. 2. A few bad actors does not equate a plague. 3. The political motives here are to change the Mueller narrative.
-
The memo shows this goes far deeper than that. FBI/Justice Dept were making their case against Trump based on what they knew to be faulty evidence. That's lying. The Strzok/Page texts revealed they were trying to take down Trump inside the Dept. THAT is collusion. And on and on..
-
Dismissing this information as a distraction or "changing the Mueller narrative" is not intellectually honest. Face the facts. Facts show that there has been a concerted attempt to create a scandal where none exists - starting with partisans in Justice/FBI

Pretty simple: If we stick with the Constitution we'll be fine. When we ignore it, we open ourselves to all kinds of mischief, foreign and domestic. It's not only our government's code of conduct but what unites a diverse people who are often politically divided.

Then get Congress to pass a law protecting Mueller.
-
The trouble is, Ryan loves Trump, so the house won't do anything that might annoy him, like protecting Mueller.
-
I get it. They are generally nothing more than Trump’s lapdogs.

There's virtually no doubt that the biggest winner in the entire Russia matter is Putin and those benefitting from a weakened US. With an administration uninterested in serious diplomacy and a government at war with itself, could the Russians have had a better outcome?

We are turning into a police state if we allow activity as revealed in the “memo”. Scary

Michael....if you don’t see the partisan measures that were used to manipulate the legal system in order to secure these FISA warrants... then I’ve severely overestimated your intellect. Can you not be honest in your presentation of what has gone/is going on here?
-
Sure, if you can actually learn the facts. Page was being targeted by Russian agents going back to '13, was under watch from a FISA warrant starting in '14, and ADMITTED to giving unauthorized documents to Russian agents in '15. So, maybe, just maybe, Page was a Russian agent.

So what he is saying is that we should never question our government. Isn’t that preciously how Putin runs his country?

Is he serious? Attacks on he FBI? What about abuse if power and lying by FBI to spy on citizens and rig an election. There’s the meddling. He doesn’t care about abuse and deceit by the very organization supposed to protect us?
