(Maybe crop out the image of the battered woman?)

I hear you, but I was struck that a paper at that time would publish such a photo. And still nothing has changed...
-
It's unnecessarily re-traumatizing and irrelevant to the subject. And - I mean this gently - your interest should not come at the cost of survivors' re-traumatization.
-
Lillian Williams clearly posed for the photograph, and she's long dead and un-re-traumatizable. Are you saying all pictures of violence should be scrubbed from history, for benefit of anyone who suffered similar violence? Should the Smithsonian purge Matthew Brady's oeuvre?
-
No. I'm saying there have been countless survivors of domestic violence since then. I am one of them. I gasped when I saw this. And your lack of capacity for empathy and your fondness for straw man logical fallacies have earned you a block. Fuck off back to RWNJ trolldom.
-
I appreciate that you have suffered and I sympathize. But your reaction was inappropriate.

Seems like an overreaction to losing his alimony case, but $1650/mo was a lot of money back then.

Who was the ex hubby? That was a lot of money at that time ?
-
I’m inferring it must have been someone famous to make the front page, but maybe the amount is just SO large.
-
I need to find this out
-
I found the full front page but having issues copying it. It’s actually 4 stories - the bomb, the alimony, B left Shirley Temple daughter 2nd BDay, B right a Lillian Williams beaten by ex BF that broke into her apartment while w/current BF
-
Not a happy day in the Big Apple, then.
-
It’s never fun here ! That’s amazing though. Thanks for that

Unless the A-hole who beat that woman is being tied to the H-Bomb, the headline is outmatched by the photos and smaller headline.

I think I'm more interested in the alimony story--whatcha got on that?? ($1,650 a month in alimony is AN AWFUL LOT of money in 1950)

So scary... wish this president would read some history... BTW, those front page photos of the beaten woman are awful too.

Are the headlines related or mutually exclusive?

One photo looks like Shirley Temple. Love to see the story.
