I had the pleasure of meeting this lovely gentleman at a fireside recording session in Colorado in 1975. He was a great story teller, and his language grew saltier and the stories more outrageous as the alcohol flowed that night. It will always be a favorite memory.

I thought the most famous scene was, "You can't fight in here, this is the war room!!"

Iconic scene, but I when I think of Slim Pickens, it's for Blazing Saddles and the line "somebody go back and get a shitload of dimes!"

Muffley: General Turgidson! When you instituted the human reliability tests, you assured me there was no possibility of such a thing ever occurring! Turgidson: Well, I, uh, don't think it's quite fair to condemn a whole program because of a single slip-up, sir.

“Shoot, a fella' could have a pretty good weekend in Vegas with all that stuff” was originally recorded as “Dallas” but following JFK assassination was looped as “Vegas.”

Went to a mine shaft in Cave Creek, AZ today. No one in the group knew the origin of the quote "We cannot ... allow a mineshaft gap"....George C Scott in Dr. Strangelove. Never thought I'd see two references in one day to one of my all-time favorite films.

Funny story: I only had four channels of TV to watch as a kid, so I watch a lot of PBS documentaries, particularly nature or history ones. One day someone put on Dr. Strangelove but since it was black and white like WW2 footage, I thought it was real and someone did ride a bomb.
