Senate Caucus room now called the Kennedy Caucus Room, in honor of all the history made by all the 3 brothers in that room.

Hope his great nephew, Joseph P Kemnedy, III, will do the same. He is a great progressive from Mass.

His grandfather Bobby Kennedy would be so proud of him. Joe is definitely carrying on the legacy, while at the same time, making it his own.

My favorite part of his campaign was warning Adlai Stevenson to stay out of his way and not seek the nomination, telling him that "If you don't give me your support, I'll have to shit all over you. I don't want to do that but I can, and I will if I have to."

I’m so old I remember this. I was 13. At 9 I was watching 1956 D convention VP nominations with dad & he told me JFK would be President someday.

Interesting. Only 11 months before election day. That would be incredibly late by today's standards.

Yes-how poignant now. No one could have ever imagined what would come. This must have been a day just filled with hope and commitment to the American people.

This is the day the death sentence was issued for fedoras for most American men, yet no one knew at the time.

Interesting for a man who won with an "outside game" via primaries. Can you imagine anyone staging their announcement in a Senate committee room today?

Bullshit. JFK was conservative fiscally, he favored a tax cut in 1963 when he thought it would help him in 64 but knew wealthy like his own family were not paying their fair share and it was not sustainable. He was a believer in progressive thinking, not conservative ideology

Actually, he favored knocking down the top rate from 91% to 70%. Not 0% like Paul Ryan.
