Interesting post. Thanks, Michael. I wonder of Frank actually wrote that letter...or if it's the work of a p.r. guy.

It isn’t the work of a PR guy. During the era that letter was written, I worked for Lee Solters, who was Sinatra’s PR guy. Lee did what Frank told him to do. Sure, he shined his image up, but never put words in his mouth. Others, yes. Frank? No

Thanks, Theresa...but compare the Michaels letter to the Rokyo letter. The latter seems pure, unfiltered Sinatra to me.The former reads overly polished, like it was written on his behalf, not by him.

There are 14 years between the letters. A LOT happens to a man in 14 years. And then there’s Barbara

Respect to Ol’ Blue Eyes but the macho thing was a bit overdone by 1990. Michael had trouble dealing with his gift, sometimes it’s a burden— can’t shame him for being human. And by the way George Michael wrote his own songs, unlike Sinatra, so they weren’t in the same position

More proof that Sinatra was a jackass: complete lack of understanding about depression. Ew.

Sinatra always loved his audiences--his fans. Always appreciative. His singing meant so much to so many. He was a cut of life.

I remember Frank Sinatra saying this. We were getting ready to deploy to Saudi Arabia for Desert Shield, later Desert Storm.
