Yes Atlas were ICBM and the Titan as well. I was in SAC. Watching an Atlas rise from its silo in the moonlight and vapors was an awesome sight

Important cultural touchstone, but should note that von Braun wasn't involved with the Atlas. That was the Army's competition: US Air Force and Convair. But Krafft Ehricke, one of von Braun's Peenemunde associates, was at Convair/General Dynamics when Atlas developed.
