Voting meant a lot more in those days. The battle for Civil Rights was still being fought and the wounds were still fresh. Today, the right to vote is taken for granted by young Americans of all races. Hoping today they prove me wrong. Voted for Doug Jones.

Just so you know, voting is sacred to Black people. Many of our ancestors and family member died, were tortured and jailed to gain our right to vote. And to thank them,

Believe me I know. I grew up in Alabama during the 60s. I was encouraged last night at the large number of African Americans who made their voices heard in yesterday's election. Hopefully the lesson was learned that if you want to be heard, you MUST vote.

So Donald Trump grabbing pussy won Presidency, Roy Moore molested teens trying to be a U.S senator. The people that voted for these guys are the same MF that want to crucify black folks for taking a kneel for injustice. How shameful is that? - So You Know http://www.soyouknow.info/3/post/2017/11/donaldtrumproymoorevoters.html …

Looks like the voting lines of 2008 & 2012. "The more things change the more they stay the same..." (Can't recall the author of the quote Mr.Beschloss) but I grew up hearing it. Thanks for today's history lessons. So grateful for this daily educational opportunity.

And Alabama is trying to replicate those long lines with voter restrictions in 2017...

THIS is why we who don't live in Alabama need to be better than mocking an entire state because we think we live in more progressive places. There are so many disenfranchised POC in Alabama and dismissing this by saying "Alabama sucks" is attacking them too. We need to be better.

Pictures worth 1000 words... This is critical in understanding events we look at as 'history' wasn't really that long ago. These things have happened *in our lifetime* not ancient history. The battle scars are still fresh. They remind us 'why the caged bird sings'~Maya Angelou
