A voice of reason and moderation. I’m proud to have campaigned for him as a college student in Oklahoma, if all places. Still remember being scolded: “Son, You must be some kind of New Dealer”pic.twitter.com/h7K5uFWWMj

This man got my first Presidential vote '80; came to R campus @ Illinois State, R band played @ a rally 4 him. He showed up, looked me in the eye & shook my hand. Ever since I realized the power of that connection & why pols make that effort. Reagan blew thru town in a limo. RIP
I took a poli sci class from John Anderson when he was a visiting professor at @BrynMawrCollege, and while he rarely covered the material he was supposed to, he loved to regale us with tales of how Congress *really* worked. It was one of the best classes I ever took. RIP indeed.
I remember him fondly from the 1980 presidential campaign.
I still remember the mock election we had at my junior high school in 1980. John Anderson came in second. Reagan came in third.
4th grade. Class voted for president (basically who your parents voted for). I was only one who voted Anderson. Everyone looked at me and said “who?”
That looks like the Foreign Language Building at the University of Illinois. Saw him speak there on the Quad in 1980. One of the few Republicans I have ever voted for.
Saw him speak at UNC-CH first political speech I attended.
I voted for him. I liked his proposal to raise gas tax 25 cents/gallon to encourage conservation.
First campaign I ever worked on. He was a good man.
Cast my 1st presidential vote for John Anderson. What a change since in politics throughout the country since then....
I voted for him in 1980
When I staffed Congress, used to spend a good amount of time in the Library of Congress researching. Surprised the first time to find Anderson back in the bowels, doing the same. Not surprised on a dozen other occasions. Nice guy, scholar, underappreciated American.
My first (unofficial) vote for president was for him. In kindergarten in 1980, the choice in the #WeeklyReader was Reagan, Carter, or him.
The 1st presidential candidate I ever voted for
Saw him once in the basement of Sears, Tenleytown. We buying paint.
Carter was a joke and I couldn't bring myself to trust Reagan, so I voted for Mr. Anderson
