Thank you for sharing. It was and still remains the saddest day of my 72 years. Some of us were never the same afterwards. Thanks again, tough photo to see. The overwhelming sadness in that room is palpable.

I was 11. I had a paper route and delivered 72 papers that day with a headline that read,”President Ambushed in Dallas.” Still hurts.

I was too young to remember this exactly but I remember my mom crying. Thank you, always, Mr. Beschloss, for putting history into perspective.

Like many Irish Catholics, it felt like the Kennedy’s were ours. My grandfather, John Lynch, was a delegate in a tiny unincorporated town in WI (Gordon). He wrote JFK & asked if he could stop there & speak when he was campaigning. JFK agreed.
-
He, Jackie & Bobby then spent some time at my grandparents home. They were invited & went to JFK’s inauguration plus balls. Obviously, a favorite family story.

So sad. Remember exactly where I was when we heard the news. AND just think. We won't even get a mention from our manchild President Trump

If only the Kennedy family would have honored Mary Jo Kopechne like that. Especially considering Ted Kennedy was to Macy Jo Kopechne as Lee Harvey Oswald was to JFK.

Thank you for your poignant chronicle. I was a young child with an American Mom living in Canada. I still vividly remember the sadness in our home on this day.
