Such a tragic day, and it haunts us still. These pictures transcend time & evoke a patchwork of emotions. And that pink suit...
Maybe it was his favorite? She knew to wear black.
She didn't change after his assassination. "Let them see what they did to Jack" or something to that effect. Very dramatic statement.
The nightmares she must of had....
The nightmares Mr. Hill had...
Seeing what they saw....
I have never seen this photo before so thank you for sharing @BeschlossDC
How could she still be able to stand by that time of day? Incredible.
It is still one of the saddest things ever.
Honor Guard from USS Constitution plus 21 gun salute plus tear-inducing taps at ceremony at JFK birthplace this afternoon
This made me sad in 1963 & it still makes me sad.
Thank you, @BeschlossDC for your rarely seen posts. Seeing these vibrant, dynamic images now bely what I, as a 7 year-old, saw then on the grainy black and white TV. It all seemed like a dreadful movie then but we never awoke another day when it wasn't to be our nation's reality.
The Day the Music Died.
Thank you for posting this today. I was only 3 but have a vague memory of watching the funeral procession w/the horse drawn casket. We ate dinner in the living room to watch. (rare) Speghetti. I remember Mom being upset.
Thank you for sharing these iconic photos.
I still cry
