It may seem like ancient history to a whole lot of people but I remember it clearly. It's bothering me more this year in view of what has become the opposite of John (and Bobby) Kennedy's dream for America.

I was eleven. It still makes me cry.

I was about 8 at the time. It was hard to understand why mom was sobbing. I think now if something happened to Trump, I would be sobbing too. I was born during North Korea War, and I hope I don't out during North Korea War 2

Forever thankful for the brilliance and charity of this heroic American family. Nothing can take away the light they kindled.

Did Robert Kennedy simply meet the plane at Andrews? I don't remember that he was in Dallas that day.
-
Yes, he was in DC that day. Was working as AG in his office when J. Edgar Hoover called to abruptly give him the news.

I was home from school that day (sick, Friday) and saw the whole thing from the beginning. We watched this scene play out as a family around the TV. It will be part of me until I die. I can only imagine what it must have been like to the families directly involved.

After my mother turned on the tv and realized this had really happened, she headed for the grocery store (maybe we were at war!) to stock up. My grandmother called from Houston to say everybody in Texas was sure it was LBJ, and he tried to get Connelly too. I kept watching tv.

When all is stripped away in the most terrible of moments what is left is the soul of a nation. The soul of our nation is visible in this shot.
