Sad, sad day. I was a high school senior in East Texas, 140 miles away. The most remembered day of my HS days. Awful

I was in 5/6th grade.. still remember the school principle telling us all that the President had been shot and has died. I can still see myself standing there. In my Catholic home, his picture was proudly displayed on the wall.

Wouldn't you like to be there just in back of the "grassy knoll", to see if there was any activity there?

I walked down the stairs, age 4, to wish my Mommie Happy Birthday. She was crying and it scared me. My first memory.

When President Kennedy woke up that morning in Fort Worth, Texas the Dallas Morning News was delivered with his coffee. His face turned grim and he shook his head, commenting that it was unimaginable that a paper could do such a thing. "We're heading into nut country today.pic.twitter.com/YCT7nNlHJv

I was tiny when this happened but remember seeing it unfold on my grandma's black & white TV. My mom & grandma were crying.

Memories of this terrible day are still vivid. This was also the first story I tried to read in a newspaper (aged almost 7), & my poor dad had to field countless difficult-to-answer questions. It's the origin of my enduring fascination with US politics.
-
You must be my British twin
This tweet is eerily true for me, too. I turned 7 in Jan. '64, fascination w politics, news began w this event. Am a HS history teacher. -
Those certainly are some uncanny similarities! Good to meet you
