What could have been .... and then we had the hope of Bobby in 1968 and he was gone just a few months after Dr. King again I remember right where I was ... man we lost 3 men that changed the country and the world in 5 yrs.
-
I was in the 5th grade also-- I will never forget watching the news on the TV in the 6th grade classroom and praying very hard.
-
Yeah we got early release because I remember the principal could not control the teachers crying, live in Massachusetts so it was a double blow they were royalty long before he became president despite Joe Kennedy's past JFK's grandfather "Honey Fitz" was historic Mayor Boston

Such a sad anniversary

I was in 6th grade. Very warm day. They sent us home early. Adults crying in the street. Nothing was ever the same.
-
Seems surreal when you see that photo
-
It was. America was not as desensitized as it is now.
-
Which in itself is sad that these kinds of things no longer shock us

Kennedy was not only leader of the free world, The Kennedys were the #1 pop stars. (pre-Beatle explosion)
-
True...and Jackie was a style icon
-

I look at the open door at the back of Air Force One and think about Kennedy being loaded back in later that day.

Knowing the outcome of this trip, these photos are very upsetting.

Does anyone know who presented Mrs. Kennedy with red roses? It seems she held them throughout the trip?
-
Couldn’t find an explanation of why red roses vs traditional yellow roses, but found this
