My uncle may have been among them. He was wounded, but survived.

My uncle was there too, went on to fight in Battle of Bulge. He never spoke of his time in WW II.

I took a car trip with another uncle, who had been a POW in Stalag 17B. Fortunately, I was nosy and asked about it.

Stalag 17 When the movie came out we had to watch it multiple times because his name was called in the mail scene at the beginning

I miss that generation. My Dad served in Europe & lost his brother to the war, but he stayed in Germany two more years working with young POW’s who grew up under Hitler, both rebuilding Berlin and rebuilding their characters. Because it was the right thing to do.

When I see photos like this I always wonder how many of these soldiers were KIA.

Americans died ridding Europe of fascism. Now they reappear vulgarly waiving our flag while selling out our ideals and values to hostile powers. Scum, all of them.

My Uncle Charlie was one of those American troops, 1340th Eng. Btn . He survived D-Day, wounded in Hurtgen Forest, came home after war & raised a family. Proud of him & all other vets in my family.

Looks like Weymouth. Was just there, and this photo was displayed at the fort in town.
