        The logic in the Declaration, "consent of the governed", states were are free when we say so. Don't need Brits to agree.

        Ok but we didn't become an actual country until we agreed to the terms of the constitution right? Nothing to do with Britain

        No, we became a Nation even before The Constitution. Articles of Confederation was prior to the Constitution. July 2, 1776 became nation

        The British delegation didn't stick around to be captured long enough for the painting (go figure). So West (artist) left it as-is
