Yes it is Admiral. The Japanese were willing to surrender as long as the King maintained his title and position. But the US declined.

Emperor, King. Is all the same. Yes he did retain his title. But that is only cause they would NOT surrender unless he retained title.

It is very much not the same, and the Japanese surrendered unconditionally. FDR refused to depose Emperor in the peace treaty.

Are you confused Admiral? Was Truman, not FDR that dropped the bomb. And Yes, 6 mo. prior Japan offered treaty, but US turned down. . .

FDR said privately *before the end of the war* that Hirohito could be allowed to stay. Japan offered an armistice keeping Manchuria/Korea,
