Would there have been a Vietnam war if Nixon had won in 1960?

There would have first been an invasion of Cuba, then American Troops into Laos in 1962. Viet would depend on outcome

It was Nixon that got US out of Vietnam. His first term he took most troops out. That's the tangible clue, he left

In 1961 Vietnam was not an issue. It was Cuba and Laos. In Nixon's first term, he escalated the war.

first term, Nixon majority of troops out, a fact. That's not my notion of escalating. LBJ, he escalated from JFK

Nixon expanded the war into Laos. Doesn't that define escalation?

Nope, he took US troops down by approx 400k In 1st term. Bombed VC in Laos for withdrawal cover. LBJ hit them in Laos too btw

Kennedy understood the power of TV more than Nixon. Those facial expressions and eyes movement means he was uncomfortable

@jmeacham Nixon made a critical mistake by not crossing Kennedy on 1st Question. Kennedy didn't waste opportunity on 2nd.
