.@BeschlossDC Photo from 1949-50 of old Penn Station drop off area. This is another area in my opinion that photographs better than it was.
.@BeschlossDC Drop off area itself maybe OK, but created terrible, VERY LONG "blank" walls along 32nd & 33rd Sts.
.@BeschlossDC A lot of wasted space (functional AND aesthetically) & anti-urbanism for just a so-so solution to problem of baggage drop off.
.@BeschlossDC IMO, Charles McKim, the architect, seems like TERRIBLE functional planner (complaints here & in number of OTHER bldgs too).
.@BeschlossDC (There were 2 of these drop off areas: 1) along 32nd St and 2) along 33rd St. Both entered on 7th Ave w/ dead end turnarounds.
@BeschlossDC question, the hastag you use.. is that the crediting photographer? #NewerFollower
@BeschlossDC As Vin Scully wrote: "One entered the city like a god. One scuttles in now like a rat."
@BeschlossDC gorgeous light streaming in. Snapshot of travel as it once was.
@BeschlossDC cab says 20 cents for first mile. 5 cents each additional mile. Crazy.
