I think I'm going to cry. The world was good and shiny then; now it's dirty and devastated.

good and shiny? i mean i was happy when he won but we were in the midst of the worst recession in decades. the times were not that great.
-
Well, of course the economy was in the toilet when he started, and improved only slowly. But there were many good things: enhanced environmental protections, ACA, more accountability in higher education, laws to protect women, LGBTQ and POC, gay marriage, 3 women on SCOTUS, etc.
-
Yes, that was AFTER he began his presidency. But when he was elected, we were in the dumps. That’s why I said things weren’t good and shiny during that time.
-
True, but this was the day we had hope it'd get better. ...and it did,
-
it got a bit better. i do remember not being super happy during his first term but he more than made up for it in his second term!
-
Congressional leadership on the Republican side met & agreed 2 oppose him every step of the way, every single day. He tried hard 2 reach across the aisle, long after it became clear his failure mattered more 2 them than the country’s needs, people’s economic woes.
-
People seem to always have a lapse in memory when dirty old man Mitch said he would stop Obama every chance he would get and make him a one term president.

I was so proud of our country. Maybe someday I will be again.
-
Why ? He was terrible. People voted for him because of his skin color. Those people are troubled.
-
Lmao! This talking points is so pathetic. As if people didn’t vote against Obama because of his skin color! I think those people are more troubled but that’s just me!

Imagine what Obama could've done, if he had an economy that wasn't about to collapse, if the GOP had cooperated with bi-partisan legislation, if people weren't so afraid of the other. Such a great man, working with so many artificial limitations. Very sad...
-
The good part is that he's still with us, working as a mentor through the Obama Foundation. And travelling around the country supporting Dem candidates. Such a pleasure to hear his thoughtful, well written speeches.
-
Absolutely that is a blessing.
-
And one good thing (among many) that the Framers did: Limit House of Reps' terms to 2 years (not 6, like the Senators' terms). We have had to endure the last 2 years, but at least we haven't had to wait longer to get a chance to change things in Washington.
-
Thank goodness for that! Boy, the framers were almost psychic.

-
They took into account what could happen.
