So true. Are you working a Trump book? I've got a title for you "The Road to Insanity" So insulting that far right non question asking Thomas would be selected to replace the honorable Marshall on the court. What a kick in the teeth& a step backwards. Still rankles me to no end.

To think that Justice Thurgood Marshall was replaced by #ClarenceThomas makes my blood boil. Now #BrettKavanaugh is going to be voted in by mostly #GOP Senators? Heavens Help Us. 2 #SCOTUS Justice accused of sexual harassment & assault respectively? #DoBetter Americans. VOTE!

Confirmed 69-11. All 11 nays from the Deep South (10 Dems + Strom Thurmond). 20 abstained. I find myself keeping track of these votes now, trying to conjure up a slightly less partisan past.

Once the racism got politically realigned, it could then hide behind a mask of partisanship #JustDontLikeHimPolitically

Thurgood Marshall was a great statesman. His judgement in cases was considerate and fair.

Agree about Thomas' tenure but I caution against saying he replaced Marshall. There is more than one "seat" for black people on the high court (supposedly). If anything, Thomas replaced a regressive predecessor- not Marshall.

I long for the days, when the Supreme Court was NOT a three ring circus. Nominees were of GOOD CHARACTER.... OH THE GOOD OLD DAYS

Fun Fact: Thurgood Marshall wrote in dissent that it’s unconstitutional for NY state to require anyone who wants to change party registration to do so way in advance of a primary.
