In 1987, Reagan’s new White House chief of staff, Howard Baker, discussed with his aides possible need to resort to 25th Amendment because of rumors about Reagan’s deterioration, quickly ascertained that there was no need to do so, and went on to stay in his job for 15 months.

I remember it being pretty obvious that there was something seriously wrong with Reagan during the last months of his presidency. When his diagnosis of Alzheimer's was disclosed I wondered who was surprised.

Bill O'Reilly (not exactly a revisionist Reagan-hater) wrote in his Reagan book -- quite convincingly -- that Reagan's early Alzheimer's signs began to show up shortly after the 1981 assassination attempt. That's like 7 1/2 yrs of varying degrees of early onset dementia.

It was very apparent to me for a very long time that Reagan's mental capacity was seriously compromised.

The problem with Trump is that he is a deranged sociopath whose behavior has shown him to be vengeful and not able to foresee the consequences of his actions. He needs to be neutralized via the #25thAmendment ASAP!

Fortunately Reagan, though perhaps diminished, was fundamentally sane.

Reagan’s dementia was so noticeable in his last two years in office, but no one would admit it.

That's back when we had a functioning Democracy where 2 parties worked together. Mitch McConnell put an end to that when Obama was elected and declared we will do everything possible to destroy this presidency. In affect saying we will destroy America to get rid of this President

According to Edmund Morris: "In walks [yesterday’s] depressed, somnolent, prostatically challenged President, moving with his usual fluid grace, tall, beaming, apple-cheeked, amethyst-eyed, tailored, giving off waves of benign power. [...]The Twenty-Fifth Amendment is shelved".
