What's often overlooked is that Richardson and Ruckelshaus encouraged Bork to fire Cox. Bork had previously written that the President had the right to do so and they were afraid that Nixon would install someone worse as AG. It's why Richardson defended Bork during the Reagan era
-
I'm no fan of Bork, but his Saturday Night Massacre is a complicated one. He later wrote that Nixon told him that he would be next for the SC. Bork didn't take the offer seriously since he knew Nixon''s days were numbered.
-
Very true. Also, Richardson testified on Bork's behalf at Bork's SCOTUS hearing. Very complicated.
-
Yes he did. It's interesting- Both Bork and Richardson were told by Nixon during private conversations that he would consider them for the Supreme Court. He loved to dangle that offer in front of the people who were in charge of the DOJ's Watergate investigation.

I have noticed a pattern with your tweets.. you pull seemingly related pieces of history out of the past to bring them forward to the present as if they are similar to what is happening now.. what is happening now is the opposite of Watergate.. what is happening now is a soft

coups AGAINST a duly elected president.. Funny about the 25th Amendment thingy with Rosenstein is that this notion has been bandied about on media for months and months as the media has been all too willing to gaslight this president and the entire country..

#RobertMueller is going to have to present ALL his evidence to state court against Don Jr, Eric, Ivanka, & Jared to force Trump to resign. Even if Mueller is fired the WH has no power against state prosecution.

Bork also famously was subsequently rejected by the Senate for a seat on the Supreme Court. Just sayin', Noel Francisco should consider his future as well as his immediate opportunity.

It would have been better had Bork not fired Cox. Better for Bork, too. But in fairness, Richardson told Bork that he (Bork) must do it. To borrow from

He was also rewarded by GOP as SCOTUS nominee. That act alone should have disqualified him for a SCOTUS nomination instead the GOP is still sore that he failed to get confirmed
