Keller is a genuine hero - a perfect example of someone who overcame adversities to be incredibly literate and a leader, she is well worthy of study and as a person to be emulated.

When I was a kid Helen Keller was the only female historical figure we studied. I’m curious which women Texas feels are worth learning about today?

@BeschlossDC subtweeting Texas! Why would any state remove Helen Keller from history? Amazing.Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo

Very appropriate comparison with the current history revisionists in our WH and in Texas (eliminating Keller/HRC from curriculum) and the West Virginia library (banning Woodruff book).

Texas loves to whitewash history via books & people! Kids will never know who HRC is unless they leave TX, for example... This is how TX Board of Education creates IGNORANCE

I moved to TX in 2017 for work. I will be retiring in 5 years and will be moving to a state where history isn't removed. Hopefully, there are still a few out there.

I heard somewhere in Texas they are taking her out of the curriculum.
-
They are taking her out of the state curriculum, and Texas decides the history curriculum for the country.
-
That’s not a good feeling

Wow..... Understand why unintelligent closed minded fearful R’s in Texas don’t want their children to learn about Helen & her life Much to powerful for them to handle

And this is one of the women the TX BoE deems to be so insignificant that there is no need to teach children about her, not to mention the difficulties she had to overcome to be the first person to earn a degree who had such problems. I call that misogyny.
-
And her degree was from Radcliffe of all colleges- the sister school to Harvard in the Ivy League. So, she not only got in, she overcame her challenges! I'd also read they were eliminating references to the Alamo as well. In Texas. Why?
-
The references to the Alamo are not in danger. Only the women and minorities are being targeted. Why? My only answer: because they are (including women) deemed to be unimportant second class citizens. How else to explain wiping out the SCOTUS: 1 black, 1 female? Prejudice.
