I saw a copy of this photo in the Baseball HOF years ago. Mentioned in passing to my wife. She got it for me for Xmas that year. It’s why I love her!

Give a good look to Robert Francis as a young man. Then take a look at Robert Francis O’Rourke from Texas. See any resemblance ? I do in more ways than one. GO BETO !!!!

I wasn’t there. But I remember Dizzie Dean and Pee Wee Reese calling Yankees’s games, & often No. 7 was the cleanup batter.

We saw the Yankees play the Senators at Yankee Stadium earlier that year when I was 13 years old. The Yankees won the game 2-1 and Mantle hit a home run. Still one of the big thrills of my life.

Broadcaster Pat Summerall told me this story 15 years ago. Mickey Mantle called him from rehab facility in the 80s. Had a delicate question and he didn't know how to phrase it. Frustrated, Pat said, 'Mickey, spit it out.' 'Can you get AIDS from being in a hot tub with f***?'
