Does anyone when the 1st 'skyscraper' appeared on the NYC skyline? I guess 'skyscraper' would mean 20 stories or higher?? First one I thought of was the Empire State Bldg (1931) but I bet that's wrong..

The first skyscraper was in Chicago and was 10 stories. It was considered gargantuan at the time. The Home Insurance building.

And.... opened in 1885...46 years before The Empire State Bldg..
