So the Republicans named a building after a racist (Russell) and now they are refusing to change it to John McCain Building. @SenateGOP @SenateDems @chuckschumerhttps://www.washingtonpost.com/powerpost/republican-senators-wary-of-renaming-russell-building-for-mccain/2018/08/28/a8aa5af4-aab9-11e8-b1da-ff7faa680710_story.html …
That’s b/c Republicans have to cheat to keep #winning so no time to worry about dismantling racism—oh wait
That’s WHY they keep winning. That’s WHY Trump isn’t look for a POC to diversify SCOTUS. They need a mole for the role. Winning (by any means necessary) is everything!
It slipped my mind that we only had 40 states way back in 1967. Cowardice and expediency is not new ... #NumbersNeverLie
No, there were 50 states in 1967. Hawaii and Alaska were both admitted in 1959 as the 49th and 50th states. How do I know? I remember when they happened. :-)
I was too subtle: each state had 2 votes = 100 possible votes; 69 + 11 = 80, thus 20 "senators" failed their oath by not fully discharging their duty effectively reducing the represented by 20% or 10 states. The Dixiecrats had the integrity to vote no. The cowards not so much.
Yes, I estimated this was your intention. Just a bit of clarification on my part intended with humor at my age.
Got it ... TY ... Since we each remember these events, your humor is well-placed. #NiceTwitter
Byrd, Robert (D-WV): NAY
Got any examples that aren't older than the condom in McCain's wallet? If Byrd had actually owned slaves there'd be statues of him throughout the South.
@BretBaier Are you going to remind all that the 11 US Senators that voted against Thurgood Marshall were Democrats?
It's not the party that really matters to be people that detest hateful people because both Democrats and Republicans have had racist. It just switched from Democrats to the Republican party.
When will we see the likes of him again?
Judgement Day.
Hopefully before. New leaders are emerging. I have faith in some of the women and men that are emerging.
Hopefully.
