For those old enough to remember, it has been 50 years since the death of one single person so touched the nation. I shed tears for @SenJohnMcCain, who I never met, and I mourned Bobby Kennedy. McCain’s death, like that of RFK, has America in mourning.
We needed his dignity.

Your research is succinct and correct. Duty, honor, and respect are other words that barely encompass the sum of an American hero. Sen. McCain will be sorely missed.

To quote Edwin Stanton after President Abraham Lincoln passed “He belongs to the ages.” The Senator’s tired and broken body can now be received in Heaven. Duty, honor, country, decency, dignity, brave and heroic. It is people like John S. McCain that makes America great.

Also Patriot: “one who defends his country against attack” is a fitting and appropriate tribute. (Saying it says nothing about agreeing or not with his policy positions.)

Proven time and again by Senator John McCain...Michael thanks for your sharing the amazing collection of memorabilia from the past. It helps remind us of days we were proud of our country, its leaders, and came together as a nation to fight common enemies.
