Maybe Trump will grant Puerto Rico statehood, so he too will get to unveil a new US flag.

My parents honeymooned in Honolulu in 1950. I remember how excited they were the day Hawaii became a state. I’ve always wished for the same joy for Puerto Rico

My dream, like that of Lorrie Scott, is statehood for Puerto Rico. But recent political developments and the storm Maria have probably made a change in status unlikely.

Kindergarten, Philadelphia. 1960, when we had a special assembly with some rep from our government introducing us to our new states. A loud New Yorker screaming "How Ahhh ya?" proceeded by "Hold on...I"ll ask her!" repeatedly till we all wanted to scream. Feels like yesterday.

Long past time to add #PuertoRico! With a population of 3.337 million, it is more populated than the States of Wyoming, Vermont, North Dakota and the District of Columbia combined! In fact, it would rank higher than Iowa and become the 30th most populated State in the Union!

The 50-star flag did not become the legal flag until July 4, 1960. An uncle of mine, a WWI vet, died in August 1959. My aunt demanded a (rare) 49-star flag be presented to her for his funeral, to no avail. The Army only had 48-star flags.

Cool pic. Made me ask what flag looked like w/20 states? 33? 42? What is the appearance of the American flag through statehood? Is this pic true?pic.twitter.com/qIuV8my7Qv
