One of our better Angels has left us for a higher calling. May her life serve as a guiding light for diversity, inclusiveness and achievement for all. The Queen of Soul can now inspire heaven & earth! Thoughts & Prayers to her family/friends

MLK was a fan of Aretha, just like the rest of us. In his record collection, within the archives at the King Center in Atlanta, is a copy of Aretha’s 1967 LP “I’ve Never Loved a Man the Way I Loved You”. I know because I held it in my hands once.

Sad Day. She wasn’t just the Queen of Soul, she was the Queen of America. She represents the very best of what America is, should be, and strives to be, even if it comes up short. She now shares this day of mourning with another American Icon, Elvis. Long live The King and Queen.

I don't remember a world without Aretha. My teen years, a young mother, a struggling single mom, as a grandmother and now a great grandmother. She was with me on that journey and she never knew how much she gave me. Goodbye, Aretha. And thank you.
