Amazing to see that sign on the side of the truck from 1913: "Equal Pay for Equal Work" 100 years of misogyny & racism in 5 words.....

Reminds me of this great one from St. Louis. Kate Richards O'Hare, one of the speakers at the Women's Independence Day rally outside the St. Louis (Old) Courthouse downtown on May 2, 1914.

My grandmother and some of her friends promoted the right for women to vote. Thank you for sharing the photo which reminds all of us that what we have now should not be taken for granted.

That does not look like a supportive crowd. And a crowd it is. Makes me nervous just looking at it. Brave women!

Why were they surrounded only by men? Were they curious, antagonistic - both?

"For over 105 years women have mostly been trying to get equal pay for an equal days work", is what I get out of this photo.

I don't believe these strong, smart women would have tolerated a president calling another woman a dog! Women today should not either!

Not a single man in the picture is without a hat. You simply didn't leave the house with your head uncovered in those days.

My great-great grandmother Cecilia Stewart Sherman and husband Sen. John Sherman of Ohio would be supportive. Women continue to be marginalized today...
