What's ironic is Trump has already surpassed Nixon on Obstruction. At least you knew whose side Nixon was on.

Ford et al had a "smoking gun" - we have a smoking cannon and still, Repub lawmakers won't act on the people's behalf and that of our country. What do they need - for a complete fall of the USA before they do something?
-
GOP then is not GOP now. Might still react to save selves if they sense the enormity of the blue wave that is building. They definitely won’t act in national interest as they already would have if they were so inclined.

#1: Ford expresses sympathy for Nixon and his “fine family.” Those tapes make clear Nixon deserved no sympathy.

What a difficult position to be in! If he tells him he has to go it would be beneficial to him and somewhat tainted, even though it’s obvious by that time. Good thing Goldwater did it?

OMG! Ford learns complete truth and states he will remain silent. States *if he knew truth earlier*, he would have remained silent.
-
I think your take possibly misrepresents Ford’s intent. He made statements supporting Nixon that had he known he said wouldn’t have made. You have read in that he wouldn’t have said anything. It could be that he would have spoken out upon learning.
