I despised Nixon but that article comments that he enjoyed the company of experts in foreign affairs and had just written a book, neither of which will ever be said of 45.

The year he was re-elected, us McGovern kids were brawling in elementary school w/ Nixon kids. That year was hair on fire like 2016, even for kids. But he created the EPA & signed Endangered Species Act. He was capable of human dignity. Trump will not but go kicking & screaming.

Between 1982 and 1991, the Nixons lived at 15 Charlden Drive, Saddle River, NJ. They then moved to Park Ridge, NJ.

John Barron or John Miller? Or David Dennison, perhaps?

Michael, Thank you sharing your historical “side stories”, esp. the connection btw Nixon & “posh Trump Tower”. God has a sense of humor... So, who has the memorabilia saved in boxes or on your computer/flash drive(s), you, your brother, or both?

and Rudy was still legit, back then, so it wasn't him

Rudy’s the example of having 2 minds - an old one that worked & a new one that’s between chirping birds & lunatic beyond the fringe!

Was this because the Co-op board at The Dakota voted to not allow the Nixons to move in? (Or is my timeline mixed up?)

In the late 80s - early 90s, the Nixons were looking at property Down the Shore in NJ. For years after that, the (IIRC) Burger King in my town displayed a Polaroid from when they stopped for lunch.
-
That's surreal in a very 1980s way that's hard to describe unless you lived through it.
-
I did. Nixon (and Ford) were, for any number of reasons, perhaps the last former Presidents who could get away with stopping in a fast food joint on a random afternoon with only a small Secret Service detail.

Who knew presidential historians threw such sublime shade? Unlike Mr. Dershowitz, who's getting the cold shoulder, I'm guessing you're receiving warm embraces from the Martha's Vineyard social set. p.s. I'd kill to be seated next to you at a dinner party.
