I graduated from UCLA in 1972, 31 years after the pic was taken. I loved L.A. during my childhood and into my 20's but left in 1977 and didn't look back.

When it really was a "village." No smog, no density. They didn't know how good they had it except is was wartime.

Westwood Village is cute. It seems to have been inspired/copied from the Country Club Plaza in Kansas City, the world's first shopping district planned for the automobile age (opened in 1923). Also has Spanish architecture, but it has tons of FREE parking! Still a winner!pic.twitter.com/IWESzjtkZ4
