Nixon had considered having “Star Spangled Banner” played during his call to Apollo 11 astronauts, compelling them to stand at attention for more than 2 mins., but was dissuaded: #NixonFoundationpic.twitter.com/CA7JSyiwkE

America can apply this reasoning to the football games. Solution: Stop playing the National Anthem at the football game and just fly the flag

Common sense is a thing. All the astronauts were military & we hate any kind of dog & pony efforts.

If only some high-ranking military officer could convince Trump (who would then convince the NFL, then tweet about it) that compelling players to stand during the national anthem at the start of football games is counterproductive from a civic and sociopolitical point of view.

Sir, has the US Marine band ever played the Russian National Anthem on the grounds of the White House. I read that at the height of the Reagan/Gorbachev relationship it did happen. Can't see Congress or Mathis agreeing to this occurring if Putin comes to White House in the fall

A flag planted on the moon (sort of like claiming the moon?) was bad enough. Nixon was 5 years away from Watergate exit of WH. Just show what sort of turkey he was but positively charming in comparison to you-konw-who.
