This is great. Do you own this?

No, my ward does. It blew me away when I saw it!

@BobShrum — Do you run across many candidates drawing upon their knowledge of Camus today? (Sigh) -
Nope. But Trump can quote DICK AND JANE.

I just had the horrible, but unshakable thought that many
#Conservatives, contrary to their claim of being “pro-life”, often misread that quote from Camus as a call to “lessen the number of suffering children”…by literally lessening the number of foreign children…period.Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo

Wow! A politician who could quote Camus? An intellectual, humanitarian leader? America has no idea what that feels like right now. Those were the good ole days

Thank you for this ... I recall a friend lamenting & mourning the assassination of RFK and the lost possibilities: "And he was reading Camus..." I wrote to my Representative in Congress on MAY 26 pleading for action and today I heard the children crying. Shame on us all.

Imagine a high profile politician referencing Camus nowadays. These days seems like they’re quoting Josef Goebbels and Barney Rubble.

I remember a 95 year old in a nursing home who talked about traumatic separation from their mother at age 4 as if it were yesterday. We have a long term moral problem more than a border problem.

As a 14 year old, I was a weekend volunteer for RFK in the weeks prior to the CA primary. I remember the Camus quote and it's just as inspirational now as it was then. Praying for some enlightenment, with regard to the current border policy.

I SO appreciate you Michael Beschloss. If we cannot learn the lessons of the past, then we are truly lost.

Camus also described the city on the hill as an alabaster vessel for the worst instincts of humankind. "The Bridge", iirc.

Back when politicians actually read Camus, and weren't called "elitists" when quoting him.
