He is my WW 2 hero as well. Love and thank God for our Grandad!
I'm thinking of how these men would feel about Nazis holding parades & burning swastikas on American soil, beating & killing people in the streets, and their Commander in Chief saying they were "very fine people".
Michael, I think your title needs an upgrade from Presidential historian to America's historian. You are a National Treasure and I thank you for making us smarter every, single, day.
#FBR
I cant fathom the bravery, moxy, and fortitude it took to board these crafts on that day.
American heroes. Except for the ones who got captured of course.
Some soldiers included are members of the 5th Engineer Special Brigade and the 741st Tank Battalion..
This picture is chilling. Very Brave men.
Yeah, none of these guys knew what was awaiting them on Omaha. Absolute slaughterhouse compared to the other beaches.
I don't see what the problem is with being anti-fascist.pic.twitter.com/OPa2YVsGTt
It’s only a problem when the fascist definition it expanded to include people you simply don’t like or agree with. Which is an insult not only to the real fight these men waged but the millions of Jews that died at the hands of real fascists.
My dad, SFC Thomas O'Connor was aboard LST285 at Omaha Beach. I have a diary he kept aboard ship which tells of the invasion. No talk of it
Great picture. I’ve never seen too many WWII in color. I’ve been to Normandy and it’s a sacred place.
Brave men!
Tugs at the heart, my heart and that of our sweet nation.
Bravery and courage. This pic gives me chills.
The faith they wait is chilling.
D-Day Memorial in Bedford, VA is worth a trip.
I lived in a small village near the Dorset coast for 10 years, and heard many a story about how they put up GI's in the village prior to D-Day. Also visited Tyneham - https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-england-dorset-24205695 …, which was fascinating.
