It's worth noting that work is not yet complete at the tunnel's old south portal. This area will be topped with soil, seeded with grass, and then the slope turned over to the City of Seattle. But the tunnel's interior has now been completely filled.

The weekend will be beautiful & the draw to go out & enjoy it will be high. We've adjusted our signs to encourage people to continue what we're doing. Limit non-essential travel & find ways close to home to enjoy the sun while keeping us all safe & healthy.

A little while ago crews cut and picked the final column of the Alaskan Way Viaduct. A remarkable job done safely, commemorated with a topping-off tree. #byeaduct

The Waterfront Space is open Wed - Sun, noon - 5 p.m. at 1400 Western Ave (corner of Western and Union). You can also see rebar from the viaduct but it is not available as a keepsake.

If you're wondering about new construction work areas appearing along Alaskan Way, see 👇👇. We removed the viaduct so could come in behind us to rebuild Seattle's central waterfront. They are your source for the who / what / when / where / why.

We have officially moved in and begun staging in the footprint of the former viaduct between S King Street and Marion Street. Access to intersections and sidewalks remains open with additional wayfinding demonstrating pedestrian accessible routes during construction.
