I'm a big Merkel fan. But come on, this is not the greatest challenge facing the nation since WWII, as she said today. The challenge is to resist that kind of hyperbole and act calmly and practically, as Merkel largely has done.

Why do you think it's hyperbolic? If she really thinks what she says (dozens of millions of infected in Germany implying several 100k deaths) then it is obviously the greatest crisis since WWII (certainly in terms of human toll).
