Affordable single payer universal healthcare should be national

Obviously, but as usual California is going to have to lead the way
-
They tried it already. In Vermont. It was a colollsal failure!
-
It is always going to be more difficult to pull off at a state level. Vermont got cold feet and backed out too soon

As a Canadian Nurse I am proud my California colleagues showed such leadership on this worthwhile initiative.

As a US civilian I (and we) are grateful to
#Canada for showing us that you can change a country starting w/1 province h/t Saskatchewan - 1 more reply

All it takes is one rock to start an avalanche. Good on ya California
-
Pretty sure earthquakes and mudslides are more prevalent there
-
Good point. But all it takes is one rumble to start an earthquake, sounds terrifying

Those on social security and food stamps should never have to pay 95% of their income on insurance...ever.
#universalhealthcare -
People on social security tend to be on Medicare.
-
I'm on MCare and budget $700/mo. for healthcare. That's 4 meds (out of 12)and co-ins. for 1 dr visit, no tests or PT/OT. 40% of income.
-
That's still $8400/year which could be spent on heating, food,a trade, education, safer more modern accommodation, or other self-improvements
-
The latest MS drug costs $88K annually. No formulary will cover this. MCaid for all will result in further formulary restrictions.
-
Sorry to hear of your condition. I agree we need some form of Medicare for people with long term chronic illness.
-
Thx. But we can't have it all. It is not rational or financially prudent to expect our every medical need or desire to be met.
-
It is and you can. By limiting profits from 600% to 20% the costs can be cut and capped.
