Looks like everything is becoming a "right" these days.
-
-
-
Yeah, how dare we think a basic need (shelter) is a human right
-
How about not only daring to "think", let's also dare to start "acting". Can you help a homeless person in your city today by giving them a room and food?
-
No, I can't. Because I pay way too much of a percentage of my income to rent a small room in a place with 5 others in the same boat. And I'm not even a millennial underwater in school debt. I'm debt free GenX, as are half the roomies, but STILL one emergency away from homeless.
-
Feed others? Frequently. Those of us closest to the ground can see the dirt that others feel they're above addressing beyond letters to the editor or city hall. How many are you currently housing and feeding again?

I want to like your tweet 100 times.

Anything that requires the labor of others is not a right.
-
This german guy wrote something about that a couple hundred years back... I believe it was called Das Kapital and what you are describing is capital's exploitation of labor to generate and extract surplus value like the vampires they are...

We will:
Bankrupt every major US corporation
Eliminate millions of jobs
Increase government control of every aspect of American life
Create substandard healthcare with massive wait times
Turn all neighborhoods into rent controlled slums
Fixed it. #SocialismSucks -

as a small landlord i agree with national rent control. i voluntarily practice it myself. i have found it is better for my tenants, my community, and myself.

Just take housing from rentiers who won't rent it affordably. There is no housing shortage anywhere. There's just a bunch of assholes owning property they aren't using.
-
Which is their choice and none of your business.

This is the exact sentiment scrooge has lmao

How much money will the taxpayer have to spend to achieve this.
-
Upfront cost is only one part of this. How much will the tax payers save by not dealing with the effects of homelessness? You have to deduct that value from the upfront cost.
-
Ok. Sorry for the rudeness during the last encounter.
-
Don't worry about it. I just assumed you were having a bad day, or were a bit ill or something.
