Let’s see, rent is controlled: more people can afford the rent, fewer people have to move out. Obviously that leads to a housing shortage because the housing has tenants! As opposed to the vacant units held by greedy landlords because they can afford to not fill the money units.

There we have it... Bernie wants to permanently eff up the real estate market.

Rent control makes sense. Property management companies should have to prove the basis for rent increases. There are places that raise the rent without offering any improvement to the apartment, the property, or in general. I’m saying this as a property manager.
-
There’s also “renoviction” when building management companies constantly claim building improvements which are merely superficial and unnecessary and are only done to keep jacking up the rent.
-
Investing in rentals, fixing up and making a profit is fine. But too many landlords are slumlords, neglecting property and jacking up rents. That's greed. No sense of the communal good. Attitude has to change. Democratic socialism.

And thanks to Capitalism you don't have to live like that anymore. Any of us have the opportunity to prosper if we work hard enough, look for opportunities and take chances. It may be harder for some but the same opportunity is there..just go for it

Don’t even know why I responded; the post is wrong on many levels. Additionally, just because one finds themselves doing all the “actual labour” doesn’t mean they’re stuck there forever and they have the possibility to get to the top as well

I told my kids anything worth having takes work and is hard, but worth it. If I give it to you I cheat you out of the feeling of accomplishment and pride in yourself for achieving the rewards to worked hard to get.

Do you work for EA games??

1) who was that directed to. 2) how did EA come into this?

I was thinking the same thing

Mr. Sanders, California is in dire need of rent control. Even in the richest state, because there's no law against it, the rent has gone up three times in the last year making it harder to afford to live here each time it goes up!
-
California is in dire need of more housing. You don't have enough of it and that causes lower supply, rasing prices. Local counsel in your state refuse to allow addition housing to be built
