People who cannot feed their kids should not be having kids.

Then we also need easier, affordable access to birth control and abortion. But your reaso ing also assumes no one can fall into poverty, which just isn't true.

Exactly, I've gone from reasonably comfortable to breadline in short order due to unexpected circumstances. It can and does happen.

Been there a few times.

Yeah my wife's surprise of breast cancer this year has really screwed up all budgeting we had been doing to buy a house...
-
I'm sorry to hear that and hope she's either recovered or us recovering.
-
She is cancer free at the moment, we just have to be vigilant and keep an closer eye on things.

Glad to hear that and I hope and pray it stays that way

Have you ever heard the saying “there’s no such thing as a free lunch?”
-
Using a cheap one-liner to argue against feeding children? That's some real big "idea man" thinking.
-
I like children and feeding them sounds like a good idea. I just don’t know who will pay for it.
-
Take a little bit outta the defense budget. There, it's now paid for with money that was already gonna get used
-
I think this is a fallback for all of the big picture ideas the left puts forward. Not that it’s a bad idea to buy a few less bombs in FY2020.
-
Not really the fall back, just one area where wasteful spending can be better utilized. There's also gettin rid of the trump tax cuts that will get us a bunch of money back and a transaction tax on Wall Street speculation. We can also discuss a carbon tax to help with emissions
-
The taxpayers pay for every child to have free lunch and breakfast in my school district. They even have summer lunch programs. It's not that hard.
-
How’s the food?

It would also be wonderful to go back to "lunch ladies" (of any gender) cooking those meals more from scratch. The processed free lunches in our school system are just corporate garbage. However, I am grateful that free lunch exists in our district. Hungry kids cannot learn.
