In Australia, where there is #MedicareForAll you get to go to the doctor when you're sick. In America, I was kicked out of urgent care with a $1200 bill and no answers and then left for dead.

Was just in Australia - gf needed to go to the Dr. No travel insurance, no problems... total cost for the visit + medications: ~$80AU. I'm pretty sure that it's cheaper for me to fly to Australia and back to get medical care, than it is to stay here and get the same.

People take healthcare vacations to other countries for this reason

Had cancer in 2016 and my operation was $4,500 out of pocket. I have health insurance. Now they think my cancer is back. No telling what these next few months will cost me. So many people suffering. We need Medicare for all.
-
I’m sorry you’re going through that. I hate how many people have to suffer from this and seeing it all around me. You deserve better than that, we deserve better than that. I wish you luck and hope everything goes well my friend, stay safe
-
This is so kind! Thank you so very much. It’s important to share our stories I believe, to raise awareness for the need for better healthcare to help others.

They cover you when you're healthy and you pay them.

I'm starting a new car insurance company. Just $25 a month. Insurance void if you get into an accident.

Same goes for society, it doesn't mean a damn thing if it doesn't serve it's people when they need it (homelessness, unemployment, poverty etc).

How much does it actually cost for the average person and what does it cover. I.e you get sick go to drs and maybe get some antibiotics how much would that cost if anything or does insurance cover it all? Genuinely have no clue how much you guys pay.
-
had to have lump removed off shoulder. That's it, just 1 lump. Insurance required I go to hospital where they could rack up charges on my copay, insurance estimate for me was $6300! So I found a plastic surgeon, had him remove it w/o insurance, less than $1500.
-
Still though $1500 is a lot and if you didn't have $1500 spare what is the alternative not a lot of people have that spare cash, payment plan or you just stuck and have to hope for the best

My favorite thing about private insurance is when they call at you and yell at you through your cell phone over the middle of breakfast with your friends because you spent too much money at the hospital and they don’t want to pay your bill.

Thanking God I am Canadian!

Eventually, every time the hospital or my insurance company called me, I just thought that this must be what it feels like to be popular.
