What is an assault weapon?
We must end the sale and distribution of assault weapons. This is what the American people want. The reason that Congress is not acting is very simple: the Republican Party is intimidated by the NRA.

Full automatic weapons (i.e., "machine guns") like the military uses are already banned. I'm assuming he's referring to semi-automatic rifles, which are only a tiny fraction of the firearms used to murder people. More people are beat to death than are murdered with long rifles.

Anything can be deadly, by statistics cars are more deadly than a long gun or even a handgun.

Right?! I mean, could you imagine? Having to register cars, passing a test to use them, require you to insure them in case you harm others, have licenses revoked for misuse, have all cars registered with the govt, pay annual taxes on it, etc? That's just crazy! That'd never work!

So the plan is to use assault weapons to murder cops, military members, and congressmen, because the government is too big and too focused on social programs. That's totally reasonable. I have no idea why those damn leftists keep saying conservatives are out of touch with reality
