When are we gonna start attacking the printer industry for overcharging on ink? My 2009 office jet is burning through a cartridge a week Bernie!

I'm sure you're posting in jest, but printer ink is actually a really good example of a product in demand that's price is jacked up infinitely because of consumer dependency when the printer ink also costs a fraction of the price to produce.
-
Profit motive is cute and all but printer ink being sold low at $15 and upwards of $100 that while taking cents to produce. And it's pretty anti-competitive since printers will refuse 3rd party or refilled ink cartridges.
-
people don't need printer ink to keep them alive
-
Yes solving printer ink is SIGNIFICANTLY less important than affordable insulin. It just also functions as another example of how our current capitalist system is working against the needs of the people

Some of these are good points but the chart ignores Bernie's dozen or so other proposals which also put money in the pockets of everyday Americans.

The 6th most expensive liquid is the breast milk I ordered online from a Dutch powerlifter.

If you want to sell 1923 grade insulin... go for it. Indeed it will be super cheap. Biggest cost... govt (FDA) regulation. You approve their budget every year.

Never mind that you can buy the exact same insulin for a 10th of the price in every other developed nation
-
Again... US drug regs (FDA) are the most stringent on the planet.... not to mention we are the most litigious society.

I refuse to believe you're making this argument in good faith.

Takes 10-15yrs to bring a new drug to market at a cost of roughly +$1.8Billion.https://www.policymed.com/2014/12/a-tough-road-cost-to-develop-one-new-drug-is-26-billion-approval-rate-for-drugs-entering-clinical-de.html …

Good thing insulin isn't a new drug then
-
Correct. Original version can be made in the garage if you have the right equipment.
-
No, new drug means it hasn't been invented before. Insulin is not that, it already exists. Canada gets the exact same insulin we have, but extremely cheap.

Healthcare, should be about keeping people alive. Not, price gouging, to the point of people dying.
