I'm inclined to agree, but Bernie does not seem be pro nuclear :(

That is because while nuclear has huge pluses, it also has huge negatives.

It takes up to 30 years to build nuclear power plants, we don't have the time.

That is a ridiculous number and you know it. The average time is <8 years, and the more we build the better we get at it. Also building out renewables to completely replace the grid will do massive ecological damage, and will cost magnitudes more than a nuclear build out.

My mistake. maybe it was 13 years and I remembered incorrectly. The point still stands. We have to start acting now, and building nuclear takes too long.

And building renewables will not do that. Renewables are way cheaper than nuclear, and if we turned 1% of farmland into solar, that would be enough to power the world.

Scientists are also saying that nuclear energy must be part of our solution fighting anthropogenic climate change. In the mean time, you’re proposing to ban nuclear. #YangGang

We don't have the time to build nuclear. It takes too long. We only have 12 years.

I am all for climate action. But I am also for being honest. Politicians are saying we have 12 years until the “world ends”, and that’s just plain fear mongering. Trust me, I fear climate change but I fear misinformation and propaganda even more.

Stop telling the people that the Green New Deal is about climate change.
